CHIANG MAI, THAILAND

After taking the Low Cost company "Air Asia", we arrived in Chiang Mai early yesterday morning.
It felt so good to be back in Thailand : the friendly people, the heat, the food, the temples, the smells (sometimes!!!)...

We spent the day looking around the town, ordered our favourite Thai meals, took some nice photos and after comparing and hagling we finally booked our trek for a couple of days in the jungle.

We went up into the mountains to visit Doi Suthep, a sacred temple perched on the hilltops; there were a few hundred steps to climb but it was well worth it! We had amazing views and the temple was incredible.

There is a great night market in Chiang Mai that we're just about to go and visit to do some hagleing : Remi has only one pair of shorts and I need a few tops...

BYE BYE AUSTRALIA, HELLO ASIA !!!

That's it, we left Australia on the 29th of June 2008 and arrived early morning on the 30th in Kuala Lumpur, or as they call it : KL.

It really felt good to be back in Asia, when that heat and humidity hits you even though it's only 7am, the people are so friendly and we couldn't wait to get out of the airport and see all the "cahos" again.

We got to Mathieu's very easily after taking a Malaysian train and bus and we were knocking on his door at 8.30am.

His flat is on the 8th floor of a lovely villa looking over the famous Petronas Twin Towers and a huge swimming pool.

We went straight for a swim and then it was time to go and see the towers from up close.
They're 450m tall and quite wide as well.

We went and tried sushi in the towers, Mathieu chosing everything for us and us eating it all...




We met up with some of Lauren's friends from her uni back in Toulouse who were doing their work experiences over here and had a few drinks and a splash in the pool.

We spent most of our time in the pool seeing as it was so hot and then went out to a Malaysian restaurant in the evening (not the kind of place you would go if you were just walking by it, but Mathieu assured us we wouldn't be ill) and had some lovely food.

We've left Mathieu's flat and are heading off to Chiang Mai in the North of Thailand and will be going back to see him after our trip around Asia.
