Halong Bay is really one of the 7 wanders of the world! it's incredible!!!!
After arriving in Hanoi we went off to Halong Bay for a 3 day cruise on a traditional "junk" boat. There is something quite mystical about seeing these huge limestone formations coming out of the
turquoise coloured water.
We spent the first day cruising, having delicious gourmet food on the boat and swimming in the bay. The next day was a lot of fun as we went canoeing around the rock formations before spending
the night in a resort on Cat Ba island. The next day we treked up to the highest peak on the island to have fantastic views on to the mountain peaks and Halong Bay, it was hard but worth
it!
Halong Bay is a must see while visiting Vietnam and once we got back to Hanoi we got the night train up to Sapa in the mountains for another must do.
We're having a lot of fun in Vietnam, there is loads to do!!!!!!!!!!

G'Day everyone!! No whe weren't taken far away into the jungle and tortured...we are just having so much fun
that we haven't really had time to work on the blog.....SORRY!!!
Well, since out last blog article we've been all over Cambodia : we took a bus from the South of Lao and crossed the border into Cambodia and then it was a 12 hour bus ride down to the
capital Phnom Penh. The ride was completly mad with the bus driver spending 80% of the time on the other side of the road, honking his horn as much as possible, picking up locals every town we
past through and nearly tipping over at one point!
But we made it in one piece down to Phnom Penh and enjoyed a few days there visiting the war museums, the local markets, the old French colonial houses and tasting delicious Cambodian food.
Then it was time to take another bus South to the little coastal town of Sihanouville where we chilled out for a couple of days on the beach... Paradise!!!!
After relaxing for a few days we went up North West to Siem Reap to explore the mistical and amazing ANGKOR TEMPLES .... WOW!!!!!! What a mindblowing experience!!! Huge ancient Khmer temples
built from the 9th to the 16th centry with incredible attention to detail.
We rented a tuck-tuck for 2 days and went exploring the most beautiful temples in the world. Some are ruins, some have trees growing out everywhere, some are intact and you can imagine quite
easily what they looked like all those years ago.
We then took a flight from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in South Vietnam for Remi's 24th birthday and have treated ourselves to a couple of nights in the 5 star luxury SOFITEL
hotel. We've had an amazing time so far in Saigon : it's not just another Asian City, it's very busy with millions of scooters and motobikes everywhere (crossing the road is a big job in
its self), people are out in the streets, food smells are on every street corner.... it's great!
We're now off to do an 18 hour train ride up to Hue and Hoi Han, World Heritage Sites on the Central coast of Vietnam. It's cost us a whole 70 USD for 2 people and we even have the
luxury of sleeping on wooden planks:-)
